Software Engineer II (SDE 2), Backend

Confidential
Location
Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
Work mode
On-Site
Employment
Full Time
Experience
3-6 years

About the role

The role focuses on backend development for a discretionary wealth management platform. Key areas include building and owning services for data ingestion, portfolio modeling, financial analytics (allocation, exposure, returns), and goal-based portfolio management. The technology stack emphasizes Python for data and ML workloads, and Go for high-throughput services, alongside deep expertise in relational databases, API design, and queue-based, event-driven systems. A strong emphasis is placed on building money-critical systems with high correctness and operational health.

Responsibilities

  • Own a service area end to end — ingestion connectors, the canonical portfolio model, analytics (allocation, exposure, concentration, returns), the goals/plan engine, or reporting — from design through rollout and on-call.
  • Break ambiguous problems into a shippable plan: write short design notes, weigh trade-offs with senior engineers, and sequence the work so it lands in reviewable pieces.
  • Implement money-exact logic with decimal precision, full test coverage, and lineage — and handle real-world edge cases (partial data, stale feeds, corporate actions, de-duplication) before they reach a client statement.
  • Design and evolve the APIs the client app and manager console are built on — versioned, documented, and stable for the teams consuming them.
  • Own the operational health of what you build — metrics, logs, alerts and runbooks — and lead the diagnosis when something breaks in production.

Confidential — Hiring Software Engineer II (SDE 2), Backend Build the rails and the intelligence behind a discretionary wealth platform. Team Engineering Location Bengaluru, India Employment Full-time Reports to Engineering Lead / Principal Engineer Level SDE 2 — Backend Experience 2–5 years building production software Stack Python and Go · relational databases · queue-based services About us India will mint more HNIs in the next 15 years than in its entire history — and not one of them has a real manager. They have distributors selling products and advisors offering opinions, but no one who takes discretion and is accountable to whether they actually reach their goals. We are that manager. We take a discretionary mandate and manage capital across the full stack — equity, debt, PMS, AIF, alternatives — and own the outcome, not just the advice. We give HNIs and UHNIs a full 360° tech stack to see, plan and manage their entire wealth in one place. AI and ML do the heavy lifting, so one manager can serve what today takes an entire team. That productivity is the moat. We’re early, building from the ground up. You’ll help shape the product, the team and the way we work — the kind of work that defines a company in its first chapter. There’s a place for you in that story. The role As an SDE 2 here you own a slice of the backend, not just a ticket — the data rails that consolidate a client’s wealth, the analytics that track every goal, the engine that turns goals into a managed portfolio, and the APIs everything else is built on. You take features from a rough problem statement to a shipped, tested, observable service with limited oversight, and you have real say in how they’re designed. This is a backend role, end to end: Python where the data, analytics and ML work lives, Go where we need throughput and tight control over concurrency. It’s a level for engineers with a couple of years of production experience who are ready to step up scope — still learning fast and well- supported by senior engineers, but trusted to own outcomes and to raise the bar for the people around you. What you’ll do – Own a service area end to end — ingestion connectors, the canonical portfolio model, analytics (allocation, exposure, concentration, returns), the goals/plan engine, or reporting — from design through rollout and on-call. – Break ambiguous problems into a shippable plan: write short design notes, weigh trade-offs with senior engineers, and sequence the work so it lands in reviewable pieces. – Implement money-exact logic with decimal precision, full test coverage, and lineage — and handle real-world edge cases (partial data, stale feeds, corporate actions, de-duplication) before they reach a client statement. Page 1 Confidential — Hiring – Design and evolve the APIs the client app and manager console are built on — versioned, documented, and stable for the teams consuming them. – Own the operational health of what you build — metrics, logs, alerts and runbooks — and lead the diagnosis when something breaks in production. – Raise the bar in code review, mentor SDE 1s and interns, and improve the team’s tests, tooling and documentation as you go. – Collaborate with product, design and compliance to turn business intent into acceptance criteria and correctness rules — and push back when a spec is wrong. What we’re looking for – 2–5 years of professional experience shipping and maintaining production software. – Strong fundamentals — data structures, algorithms, API design, databases — and the judgment to apply them under real deadlines. – Hands-on production experience with Python and Go — our backend services are written in both. Real depth in one and working fluency in the other, with the appetite to get strong in both. – Solid relational database skills: schema design, query performance, transactions and migrations you’ve run against real data. – A track record of owning a feature or service beyond the first commit — you’ve tested it, shipped it, debugged it in production and lived with the consequences. – Care for detail and correctness, and a willingness to dig into messy real-world data. – Clear written communication, a collaborative instinct, and the judgment to know when to ask and when to decide. Bonus points – Exposure to fintech, payments, capital markets, or data-integration / API-heavy systems. – Familiarity with Account Aggregator, MF Central, demat/RTA data, or KYC flows. – Experience with async/queue-based processing, event-driven systems, or applied ML in production. – Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading a small feature team. – Open-source contributions, side projects, or competitive-programming background. Why this role – Real ownership early — you’ll own a service area clients and managers depend on, not tickets in a backlog. – Scope that grows as fast as you do, with senior engineers reviewing your work and a clear path toward senior IC or lead. – A correctness-first culture where you’ll learn how to build money-critical systems properly.
